The US public rarely has an opportunity to get involved in discussing security issues or learning what they can do to impact US and global security.
The 3D Security Initiative provides speakers, resources, and a web-based dialogue on this site to create ways for people to get involved. Click here to invite a speaker on 3D security to your community group.
Through the website and public opinion polls, we are gathering material for a book on what the US public thinks about US and global security that will be shared with every Member of Congress.
We are building public constituencies to support effective development, diplomacy and defense strategies that reflect the values held by the US public. When there are important times when Members of Congress are voting on funding for essential development and diplomatic initiatives such as the new State Department Office of the Coordinator for Reconstruction and Stabilization or The Conflict Fund, we'll invite people around the country call in to support these types of new initiatives and policies.
Most policymakers get weekly calls from lobbyists for weapons manufacturers. We are concerned that corporate profit rather than human security drives US security policies. There is presently no organized constituency to regularly promote to Congress a new vision for U.S. security policy that includes investments in other tools like development and diplomacy. Congressional policymakers need to hear their constituents urge them to invest in development and diplomacy before they will adopt 3D security priorities.
